Curating Unique Fashion and Specialty Flavors for Ponce City Market
The stakes were high. In May 2013, Jamestown Properties engaged Tisha Maley to lead retail leasing for Ponce City Market, one of the most ambitious adaptive reuse projects in the Southeast situated in an unproven, urban submarket of Atlanta, just six miles from Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.
The history, architecture and vision for the former Sears Distribution Center were a home run. However, national and local specialty retailers needed to be convinced that Ponce City Market could create a new, high-performing retail node in Atlanta and consistently attract their best customers.
The leasing team set out to prove that Atlanta’s “Midtown East” customer wanted something different from what was currently offered in the metro area and could support a critical mass of specialty retail in their backyard. They envisioned a line up of fashion and home goods retail with a point of view that connected with area residents’ bohemian style and urban edge.
In summer 2015, vision became reality as Ponce City Market and the community embraced the opening of this new shopping district which includes: Anthropologie, J. Crew, Madewell, The Frye Company, Lululemon, Michael Stars, Rye 51, Q Clothiers, Lily Rain, Williams-Sonoma Home, Rejuvenation and Core Power Yoga.
“Ponce City Market offers a distinctive shopping experience that did not previously exist in the city,” said Jamestown President Michael Phillips. “Tisha’s collaboration with our Jamestown Leasing Team helped create our collection of first-to-market, fashion and home tenants. Her passion, relationships and perspective within the retail industry were significant to the development of what we hope will become a world class shopping experience.”
